My company uses GDISK (the DOS version) for the secure wiping of PCs (using the DOD 7-pass method). This was booted from a DOS based floppy disk from a USB floppy drive until recently.
We've recently created some bootable flash drives using FreeDOS and have tried to get GDISK running from there. The program runs OK and wipes the disk with the counter steadily going up to 100%, but then it sits still for hours on end doing seemingly northing before eventually displaying the partition status screen and terminating.
As this is run from a batch script that calls it several times to wipe multiple drives, this delay is causing us issues.
Is there a reason as to why GDISK would freeze like this at the end of the wipe, and what can we do to rectify it?
